About Our Organization

40 Girls and Some Shoes is a Georgia based charity outreach program servicing the homeless and impoverished citizens of the City of Atlanta and its surrounding communities.

Founded by Sylvia Webb, the organization's primary mission is the collection and distribution of new and gently worn shoes for men, women and children, provided by its many generous supporters. Through a vast network of partnerships and associations formed in the past 3 years, 40 Girls and Some Shoes has provided 10,000 pairs of free shoes to these underserved groups since its inception. This has been accomplished through a number of shoe drives and an annual charity event which brings together leaders of the city, other organizations aimed at serving the homeless community, and individuals who want to do their part to support this great cause. Additionally, recognizing the impact of the economic downturn in our country, 40 Girls and Some Shoes stepped up its efforts to also meet the demands of the unemployed and underemployed, some of whom are at risk of becoming homeless themselves.

Some of our community involvement includes various church and outreach organization donations, a shoe distribution in Renaissance Park and in Vine City Community, where those in need received free shoes after making their own personal shoe selections, and donations made to the victims of the 2009 flooding in Austell and Marietta, Georgia. We are only able to continue to meet the needs of those we serve through the continued backing of those who believe we can eradicate this epidemic.

40 Girls and Some Shoes accepts donations from retailers and individuals and is always looking to expand our existing network. Anyone can make a difference . We are an IRS recognized 501(c)(3),  making donors eligible for tax advantages. 

Shoes do not educate, nor do they guarantee a home or employment, but they can provide an increase in esteem and protect the "soles" of those looking to take what may be that first all important step in getting to the other side of their lives.
